Tasting Notes…
Baigorri Crianza is a superb red wine prepared from hand-selected bunches of Tempranillo and Grenache combined with a small percentage of other native varieties. Long maceration precedes fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, before ageing for fourteen months in French and American oak barrels.
Deep cherry-red wine with aromas of black fruits and fruit compote; the palate is elegant and silky, with a long, slightly spicy finish.
Special extra mention must be made of Bodegas Baigorri’s unique blend of traditional philosophy based around quality and state-of-the-art technology. The building is cleverly constructed to aid the winemakers produce the best wine from the grapes.
This ultra modern winery is carved out of the mountain, with a top floor entrance that has outstanding panoramic views over the vineyards, to the Ebro river valley and the rocky crests of the Cantabrian mountain range beyond; beneath this, there are six floors designed to deal with the specific stages of winemaking and maturation. Grapes, must and developing wine are transported between each location by gravity; travelling down through the winery from the selection tables all the way to the bottling line without hoppers or pumps, which makes for gentle handling and results in a superior finished wine.
