J Moreau et Fils has a vineyard in, arguably, the finest Grand Cru appallation of Le Clos. This unoaked wine is a regular Gold medal winner at the International Wine Challenge. Pale gold in colour, with a clean lemon, mint and gun-flint nose, typical of the appellation. On the palate, crisp green apples with citrus and acacia backnotes.
~Food and wine pairing~ Excellent with seafood and fish such as salmon or turbot. May also be matched with white meats in cream sauces, or simply enjoyed as an aperitif.
In all likelihood it is in Les Clos that Chablis viticulture began. At 24.75 hectares it is the largest of the seven prestigious Grands Crus. It is also the most homogeneous, benefiting from a regular geological slope with a gradient of approximately 200 m, as well as from south-western exposure. It produces very structured, very firm wines characteristic of the terroir with good ageing potential as they need time to open up.
