Tasting Notes…
The Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma, with its unique characteristics of pronounced afternoon heat, followed by a cooling night air from the Pacific Ocean, make it especially suited for cultivation of this hearty, typically American grape. The Federalist Visionary Zinfandel is hand-crafted to bring out the individuality of the mature Zinfandel grape with rich, full-bodied flavour characteristics. Individual parcels of Zinfandel from several Dry Creek Valley vineyards, were barrel-fermented separately to preserve the characteristics of each. After which, the dark-purple wine was matured in a mixture of French and American oak barrels for about months. Aromas of blackberry, plum, black cherry and some spicy backnotes; the large, fruit-forward palate is balanced with light acidity and mouth-filling with subtle tannins on a richly textured, long finish. Awarded GOLD at the 2014 International Wine & Spirit Competition, and also GOLDat the 2014 Sommelier Wine Awards.
